super20 information

the primary competition of the fantasy challenge world, contested by twenty managers (the bottom division can have less or more than twenty managers) it operates on a system of promotion and relegation.

foundation

at the close of the 2005-2006 season players were placed into their super20 division according to where they finished the season in the overall league. the top twenty managers forming the top division and so on down the overall league.

in the inaugural season five divisions were formed. the premier league, championship, division one and division two. these all had twenty players with promotion and relegation of five up and five down. the 5th division, the conference had fifteen players in it with the top five gaining promotion.

competition format

during the course of the season managers play each other twice. normally there are twenty managers per division so a total of 38 games is played by each manager.

the manager scoring the most points in that gameweek claims the victory. managers receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. no points are awarded for a loss. managers are ranked by total points, then point difference and then points for, the manager with the most points is crowned champion.

if points are equal the point difference then points for determine the winner. if still equal the head to head between the two managers will be taken into account if both managers have a win the aggregate score will decide rank.

super20 is a unique fantasy football competition where the players are divided into leagues, normally with twenty players in each division. the bottom division can have less. everyone will play each other home and away with the player scoring most points that gameweek winning the match. points are awarded according to the result with promotion and relegation also to be fought for over the season.

this means super20 is one of the few fantasy games that, like real football, continues season on season.

pyramid premier information

in the sixth tier of the super20 competition all managers are aiming for a top five finish to gain promotion into the fifth flight of the super20 competition.

a bottom five finish will see the managers relegated into the seventh tier of the super20 competition.

qualification for the champions league or pyramid cup

all pyramid premier managers go into the pyramid cup.

potentially due to managers dropping out of the game the managers going into the pyramid cup could be elevated into the champions league. this also makes it very difficult to determine what pot for the draw managers will go in. to quantify, if you are in the pyramid one you will be in the pyramid cup but potentially you could finish 10th in the pyramid one league but if there are loads of dropouts you could be promoted up the leagues so it is difficult to specify which of the two competitions you will be in next season.

what does dropping out for one season mean?

if a player misses a season in super20 and then re-joins the fantasy challenge they will re-join the super20 leagues in the lowest division. you will go into the hat alongside all new managers to be drawn out for what division you re-enter the super20 leagues.

for premier league managers dropping out, this could mean it will take you seven seasons to get back into the top flight.

things to be aware of

transfer points
premier league explanation:

transfer points are deducted at the start of the next gameweek.

transfers are free of charge before the start of the season. if you join the game after the start of the season, transfers are free until your first deadline.

fantasy challenge explanation:

so it is gameweek 5 and you have scored 67 points and your opponent only scored 65 points, you are happy because you have won but when you check the fantasy challenge website the result shows that you lost 63-65 this will be because you have made two transfers in this gameweek.

you get one free transfer per week with each additional transfer costing you four points. the point deduction does not show in your gameweek score on the premier league fantasy website (see full explanation below). at fantasy challenge we take your overall score from the end of each gameweek then deduct your previous weeks overall score to get your gameweek score it is this score that is used for your matches in super20.

the premier league website explanation of transfer points:

one transfer can be made between each gameweek deadline without charge. each additional transfer made in the same gameweek will deduct four points from your total at the next deadline.

if you don't use your free transfer then you'll be able to make an additional free transfer the following gameweek. these saved transfers don't accumulate and can only be used the following gameweek.
